Jeff Mullen
I like to write science fiction and fantasy. Though I normally prefer hard science fiction--where the rules of this universe apply--I can stretch a little. "A Simple Spell" is one of those little stretches. It's flash fiction--it would take up less than one page if typed out--and tells a humorous anecdote about a sorcerer and his apprentice.
"Getaway" is much more my style. I was hoping, once upon a time, to use it as the first part of a novel, but the novel never panned out. In the piece, one of the characters says, "Resistance will be futile." It would seem to borrow something from a certain TV series. Funny part is that those words were in the original copy of the story that I penned in 1980--long before the TV series ever used the words. If anything, they copied me. Still, this is good enough to be readable, so...help yourself.
